We’ve got some delicious fancy cordials behind the bar that, as well as being great for non-drinkers, we reckon will mix well with gins and in cocktails.
This won’t be news to regulars - the bottles have been hanging around the back bar for a couple of weeks. That’s because I was waiting for a meeting with a rep from Mr Fitz Aqua Spritz. It’s a system that filters, chills and carbonates mains water to be dispensed via a font on the bar; and has been branded to pair with the Mr Fitzpatrick cordials. I either like to know the cost upfront, or if I think there’s a deal to be done then I don’t mind waiting until I’m face-to-face with ‘em, which was the case here. Well the meeting didn’t go well, the price was insanely high, and there was no way we’d come to an agreed middle ground. I don’t think there’s enough drugs in the world to make me think it was a good deal, and I’ve traversed a sparkling neon universe, white-knuckled as fingers dug deep into the cushions of a flying sofa while enormous spider legs grew out of my head.
I said to the rep, “What if I just got a different yet similar system for the mains water dispense but kept serving the delicious cordials with it?”
“Well then, you’d have the Mr Fitz part, but you wouldn’t have the Aqua Spritz part!”
“Yes,” I nodded unregrettingly, “I know.”
In the absence of a bankruptcy-threatening Aqua Spritz component, we recommend enjoying these cordials mixed with a bottle of sparkling water. It’s the Mr Fitz Bottle Spritz system. We serve them in a fancy goblet, lots of ice and selected garnishes. They’re really, really nice and much more interesting soft drinks than the usual suspects. Here are the flavours we currently have:
Elderflower & Apple
Strawberry & Kiwi
Rhubarb & Rose (no added sugar)
Raspberry & Lavender (no added sugar)
Sour Cherry, Red Grape & Hibiscus (no added sugar)
