The Abbey of Notre Dame was founded in 1132 but sacked in 1793 following the French Revolution. It was reconstructed in 1926 and a brewery was added in 1931 to help meet
the costs of construction and maintenance. The single ale that is produced is different in character from all the other Trappist beers and is marketed in a distinctive and unique bottle. Intensely aromatic and dry character. Between the first and second fermentations there is an additional dry-hopping process. Through this the beer acquires its pronounced hoppy aroma and extra dry taste. 6.2%
